Daniel James Snyder, FACHE

President and CEO

Born in Rochester, New York, Dan moved to Chicago early in his life where he attended local schools through junior college--and then, enlisted in the U.S. Navy to secure education benefits. During his four-year enlistment, Dan served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman (MEDIC) in a variety of direct patient care assignments with the Marines and Navy—thus, gaining insight into the various healthcare missions of Navy Medicine. While serving as a Corpsman, he also completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees in hospital administration. Upon completion of his graduate education, Dan was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy’s Medical Service Corps.

As a Healthcare Executive in the U.S. Navy, Dan served in myriad hospital and healthcare leadership roles around the world--he also served in multiple tours on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, Office of the Navy Surgeon General, the Pentagon. His Pentagon based duties involved leadership for strategic planning, programming, budgeting and operations for the Department of the Navy operational resources (e.g. Hospital Ships, Field Hospitals) and global shore-based resources (38 hospitals and over 300 clinics). As a senior officer, Dan attended the National Defense University in Washington, DC and traveled globally to study healthcare trends and delivery systems--he was then awarded a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy. Dan completed his Naval Service as a Captain in late 2000--in the course of his naval service, he was presented multiple awards (e.g. Legion of Merit) and was also awarded the American Hospital Association's Federal Health Care Award.

In 2001, Dan joined Intermountain Health Care (IHC) in Salt Lake City, Utah where he served as CEO of IHC’s flagship hospital and trauma center--and also served as Chief Operating Officer for IHC’s Salt Lake Valley operations leading a team of 7,000 health care professionals and leading several other hospitals in the Salt Lake Valley. In 2004, Dan began service as the President of Banner Health’s Western Region where he led a team of 10,000 professionals serving in twelve hospitals located across six western states. As two of the largest integrated healthcare systems in the United States, IHC and Banner Health are routinely rated at the top two U.S. healthcare systems.

In 2006, Dan began service as the Group Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Parkway Holdings Limited, Asia’s premier private value-based integrated healthcare company. Dan also served as CEO of Parkway Health and during his tenure, grew the hospital system exponentially and established Parkway Health as a recognized global leader in value based, integrated healthcare. Also during Dan’s tenure as CEO, Parkway (listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange) became the largest private hospital system (revenue) in Asia and the Middle East.

In 2009, Dan created Asia Pacific Health Partners (APHP) and assumed the roles as CEO for the USA Corporation-and, Managing Director for the Singapore Private, Limited Company. APHP mission is to further the globalization of value-based, integrated healthcare.

Dan has been a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) since 1977 and is currently active as a Fellow in the college. Dan served as a Regent from 1993 to 1997 and a Governor from 1997 to 2002. He also serves on several corporate boards and committees.


Leanne Laidler RN, BN, MBA

Group Senior Vice President, Clinical & Operational Services

Leanne has over 30 years experience in healthcare commencing her career as a nurse in Melbourne, Australia.

She has recently completed her contract with Parkway Health as Group Vice President for Nursing, Learning & Operational Excellence. This role was based in Singapore but included responsibility for nursing services in Malaysia, India, China, Brunei, and for new projects in Mumbai and Abu Dhabi. The main priorities for Leanne’s role in Singapore were to ensure the standards of nursing services for all patients cared for in Parkway Health and to enhance the nursing team’s satisfaction with their career by ensuring diverse career path options, fair remuneration & recognition programs, education and training opportunities, and a sense of collegiality within the professional group. Leanne was also selected to lead the Operational Excellence initiative to facilitate operational performance to be at its most efficient and effective level. Workforce planning, care/case management, management and leadership training were amongst other key initiatives, strategies and plans implemented during her tenure.

Prior to her appointment in Singapore Leanne held a number of national private healthcare appointments in Australia. These included roles such as National Clinical Services Manager for a diagnostics, medical centre, pharma & nutriceuticals provider, Chief Operations Officer Clinical for a national private sector hospital provider, and Manager of Clinical Services for an operator that served 2 states. Leanne was also previously appointed the inaugural National Director of Nursing for Health Care of Australia. These roles saw Leanne lead strategy and operational initiatives for both clinical and business matters. Initiatives that blended both quality improvement and cost control via waste reduction / elimination were thematic. The roles also demanded her experience and knowledge of risk management, liaison with key customer groups such as third party payers, underwriting insurers, government bodies, doctors, management teams and strategies for marketing, sales and procurement processes.

Leanne is passionate about quality healthcare services and was a leader of a program which attracted a Federal Government award for outstanding achievement in Best Practice. This was for a Case Management Program focused on achievement of the desired clinical outcomes in the most efficient and effective manner. The program demonstrated improved length of stay, whilst improving patient satisfaction with the care process. It therefore enabled more patients access to the facility due to its already high occupancy rate. Leanne’s passion for the model saw her involved with Melbourne University to establish a Graduate Diploma in Case Management and to establish the Case Management Society of Australia of which she served on the Board for many years and is a Past President.

Prior to moving into leadership roles in healthcare, Leanne was a clinical nurse with experience in Operating Room, Medical & Surgical Nursing, Pathology & Home Care. Her experience ranges public sector, not for profit and for profit healthcare.

 

 Dr Jeffrey H. Staples, MD, MBA

 Group Senior Vice President, Clinical Quality

Raised in the Caribbean, Dr Staples attended medical school at Columbia University in New York and completed his post-graduate training in Hawaii in 1994 at the University of Hawaii. After 4 years in the US Air Force as a Flight Surgeon, Dr. Staples returned to Hawaii to practise medicine, and then spent 2 ½ years sailing the South Pacific, eventually landing in Singapore in 2003.

While based in Singapore, Dr. Staples served as the Regional Medical Director of Consulting & Corporate Services for International SOS, the world’s largest Medical and Security Assistance Company. Leading a cross-disciplinary team of consultants throughout the region, Dr. Staples pioneered International SOS’ corporate risk management services. During his tenure at SOS, Dr. Staples was the Global Lead Consultant for a wide array of Fortune 500 clients, including: McKinsey, Pfizer, UBS, Credit Suisse, Barclays, Hong Kong MTR, Cadbury-Schweppes, DHL.

In 2008, Dr. Staples joined Parkwayhealth where he served as the Division President, China & North Asia Operations until the end of 2010. In this capacity, he managed the largest international medical provider in Shanghai, with over 500 employees and $40m USD in annual revenue. During his tenure with Parkwayhealth, Dr. Staples spearheaded aggressive revenue growth and cost containment, leading to record profits for the division. At the same time, he instituted stringent quality control and customer service policies and initiated JCI certification for his division.

Dr. Staples has recently joined Asia Pacific Health Partners as the Group Senior Vice President of Clinical Quality.

Dr Staples is also a regular speaker at major conferences throughout the region.
